Whenever Team India goes into an ICC tournament, posts related to former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni start surfacing on the internet. It has been over three years since the World Cup-winning captain drew curtains on his decorated international career. But his contributions to Indian cricket will be cherished for ages. After the Men in Blue lost the ODI World Cup final to Australia on home soil, content about Dhoni instantly became a viral topic in the world of social media. People began to share posts focusing on Captain Cool’s iconic jersey number 7, giving birth to a new four-word phrase– “Thala for a reason."

Now Google India has jumped into the trend, dropping a post about the significance of number 7 on X (formerly Twitter). It accompanied a picture of a laptop where MS Dhoni was searched in seven different tabs opened on Google Chrome. On the visible result page, numerous pictures of the Indian cricket icon were displayed. A piece of paper was held in the foreground with a search quarry reading, “What is special about number 7?"

In response to the question, Google answered, “There are Seven Colors in the Rainbow, Seven Days a Week, Seven Wonders of the World, Seven Major Seas, and even the total number of Continents is Seven! No other number has so many connotations and references in many different fields like the number Seven. So, it’s a very important number indeed." The caption of the X post read, “The message is clear. Thala for a reason."

Google’s Thala-related post received a thumbs-up from several Indian cricket fans. One of them was quick to say, “We don’t need to pay anything for Goat Thala’s promotion."

Taking a hilarious dig at Google India, one fan commented, “Even Google needs Thala Dhoni for reach."

Going by the caption of the post, a person noted, “Message is clear. Thala is the king of cricket."

A fan also feels “there is always something unique about 7."

MS Dhoni was last seen in action at the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) where his team Chennai Super Kings became the champions to secure their fifth title. After the final match in Ahmedabad, Dhoni revealed that he would like to play the franchise tournament one more season as it would be a treat for his fans, who showed constant support for him during the last campaign.
